Overlapp

App Redesign
Project Overview
Overlapp is a personal space for connecting real people through shared experiences. Provides a platform to track opinions and wish lists, empowering users to choose whether to share or keep them private. The goal is to facilitate authentic connections and enable users to make amazing discoveries, all while respecting their choices and individuality. Together, want to bring everyone closer through genuine connections and shared passions.
My Contributions
When I joined the Overlapp project, the app was already live, but it lacked a solid design foundation. This gave me the opportunity to bring my creative spark to the table. As a UX, UI, and Service Designer, I've been deeply involved in every aspect of the design process—from research and design to prototyping, testing, and stakeholder discussions. Our collaborative efforts have led to significant improvements and a successful app redesign.

First of all, I realized that it was important to align project expectations with stakeholders, so as to be aligned on the goals and the value proposition of the app.

With that, I could be sure of the roadmap we had in mind and the deliverables that were expected from me. The main thing was to review in detail if the features and functionalities that we already had in the app were in accordance with the design of the business model. Since the requirements varied and were not very concise.

Once that was identified and groomed, we could continue to the design part, in which there were workshops to align the priority of the most important functionalities for our users and to generate value for the app.

Overlapp - As Is

Research

We wanted to know if two of our main features were valuable for our users and if the user flow was seamless for them.

Goals
Understand if the sliding scale is useful and valuable for the users.
Evaluate how often the users use the wishlists.
Look if people really want to connect with others based on interests.

Methodology & Participants
User testing online by a video call with selected participants

Understanding our users

After our research, we create our personas to understand better their needs, experiences, behaviors, and goals. That helps us to recognize the different people and identify who we were designing to, because this still needed to be adjusted.

Jane Problem Statement
Jane is a Sr student from Georgia, now living in NYC who wants to meet new people because sometimes she feels alone. She likes going out to get inspirational, so she would like to have more friends she could go with.

Lia User Story
As a single and outgoing person working as an MKT Assistant in NYC with a lot of work, Lila want to get out more, meet new people and try new things in the city, so that she can learn more about different kind of things and she can destress from the week's work.
